A Profound Mystery

In Ephesians 5 Paul talks about the relationship between husbands and wives which is a relationship built upon love and submission. He then makes this great statement: "This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:32 He reminds us that the relationship betweeen husband and wife is the same as the relationship between Christ and His church. We should remember that this is so profound and so important that when we take our vows lightly we are saying to the world that is how Christ will treat His church. Christ loves His church so much that He died for it. Christ loves His church when the church is unloveable. And in Hebrews He states that He is not ashamed to be called their God. What message are we giving the world?
