Headlights

Pastor Gord mentioned headlights this morning and that got me thinking about 1 John. John tells to walk in the light. David said that God's Word is a light unto our path. As Pastor said, headlights may show the path (or road) in front of us but it doesn't show all the way to our destination. We have to walk in the light given us.

I always like the analogy that my Oma would use, basically it was that the older you get and the longer you walk with the Lord the more you see his wisdom and grace and that enables those people to hold the light for us, not shining ahead of us, but shining it back towards us saying come this way you can trust this path, it is safe and true. John seems to be saying something similar to that when he reminds us that He, as well as the apostals, can testify that they know the way, they saw it explained by the Son of God.

Jeremy, I like your Oma's illustration ... Hebrews 12:1-3, perhaps?
Joe ... it sounds like you have embarked on a great series! Thanks for your faithfulness to the truth of the Word.
