I was reading in Psalm 37 this morning and verse 5 says, "Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will do this."
I was struck by the thought that if we are to live by faith we must commit ourselves and our ways to Him. Living by faith is trust Him to do what He has promised. Before we can trust Him we have to commit to Him.
I went back and re-read verse 4 which says, "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." How many have said that by faith we claim the desires of our heart but when you examine the heart it is delighting in things rather than in God Himself. When we delight in Him then our desires will be what He desires. It is not faith to "name it and claim it"; that is covetousness. Let us look at faith through the eyes of faith.
